About the Show
13! meets Dear Evan Hansen (but with a likeable protagonist), with a hint of Mean Girls. How to Lose a Friend in Ten Texts is a new musical about best friends Sally and Alice. The two girls have been friends forever, going through the highs and lows of adolescence, dealing with everything from parental divorce, a love of music, and what movies to watch together. Now they are about to start high school together. Sally, a young girl dealing with anxiety, sees that Alice is changing everything about herself to try and be popular, and Sally doesn't think she likes who Alice is turning into. When a class project goes awry, and Alice cheats using AI, Alice and Sally's friendship reaches its breaking point when Sally is accused of being a snitch. Sally must decide if her old friendship with Alice is worth saving, or if she can be happy with the new friends she is making at school, as unpopular as they may be. Using text messages, a love of pop music and country songs, and a colourful cast of characters, Sally tries to rebuild her world, possibly without the one person she felt she could always count on.
