Ad Astra and Book News

This past weekend I was at my first Ad Astra convention, and I had an amazing time. I got to spend the weekend as a panelist, and did a reading from my novel Sitnalta. The panels I participated in were: This Damsel Saves Herself- about female protagonists in Fantasy Fiction, Zombies as Window Dressing, and ReWriting Grimm, Aesop, and Anderson. It was a great time, and I actually liked being able to move around, see people on my own time without being tied to a table.

The Friday of the convention, I did some cosplay. I also had an incident before the con even started which I am now working on turning into a short story. :) Let's just say it involves a dog, a sword, and a very confused police officer...

In other news, I finally completed all of my edits on The City of Arches. I love how this book turned out! It is definitely the longest one I've written, and it was very difficult to go through, as the book is what is essentially a prequel, I had to be very careful that I hadn't unintentionally caused any continuity issues. I had never been more thankful to be more of a plotter than a panther. All of my notes and plans came through for me in the end, and now the book is firmly out of my hands.

Now, I'm moving forward onto the next project. I have a plan for another novel set in the Sitnalta universe, however this one is going to look at the character of Ipsinki. All I'm going to say further is that things are going to be getting pretty interesting in his duchy outside of Colonodona's capitol. :)

And now, a look at this past weekend in which I had an amazing time, got to be on a panel with a couple of my writing heroes, and ultimately had a blast! (Also, please check out Nicole Lavigne's blog. Thanks to her, I actually got some picture of one of my panels.):

I love that you are using the word 'duchy'!!! Makes everything sound classier.
