Forty-two Questions
About the show
Conceived and written by Alisse Lee-Goldenberg and An Tran, Forty-two Questions is a one hour live action serialized dramatic television programme aimed at an adult audience. This programme is based in the world introduced in the novel Bath Salts: a Zombie Novel written by Alisse Lee Goldenberg and An Tran, and published by Severed Press. Forty-Two Questions centres around the main characters from the novel who have survived the zombie outbreak that devastated the country of Canada. After fleeing the path of destruction that the zombies had wrought, and surviving in the frozen north, they have returned with their remaining family members and friends to what is left of Toronto. Here communities have set up by the military who are the de facto governing body. The survivors now have to find a way to re-integrate into a changed society and the new world order. The show will look at the growing divide between two main factions of survivors looking at what survival means, and how they continue to be human. In an environment where the strong rule, and the weak are cowed and made to follow, one group has chosen to strive to keep people’s morale alive, and their spirits high, while the other believes that might makes right, and that people are made to be ruled.
Forty-Two Questions looks at the story of the zombie outbreak from a perspective not usually seen. It takes the story from the ending, where things truly become complicated. What happens after the outbreak has become contained? How does society pick up the pieces and move on with life? What sort of society takes shape? How do they get power? How do they get food? How do people live now that it’s all over? Forty-Two Questions looks at a society deeply divided, and deeply affected by a devastating sense of loss that all the characters share, and it asks all these questions in a new and interesting way.
