The Princess of the Tower
About the Show
The Princess of the Tower made its debut as a part of the Toronto Fringe Festival's Kids Fest in July, 2018.
A travelling troupe takes the stage. With instruments in hand, they are here to take the audience on a magical, musical journey through a fairy tale. That tale is The Princess of the Tower.
To stop a prophecy from coming true, The King allows Princess Solima to hide herself away in a far off tower. Encounters with giant birds, snobby princes, and enchanting soothsayers ensue. The 'company of players' tell the story while performing rousing Klezmer music to the delight of the audience in attendance. A tale within a tale, the players take on multiple roles with aplomb.
Based on the Yiddish folktale of the same name, this show is sure to delight people of all ages.
The Princess of the Tower features a script by Alisse Lee Goldenberg, music by Scott Christian, and lyrics by Lezlie Wade.
