To Video or Not Video... (also, The Great Wedding Weekend)

A lot of changes are coming down the pipeline. I am about to go into a fairly stressful few days. My sister in-law Jenn is getting married on Sunday! I am absolutely thrilled for her, and I am going to be a bridesmaid, my husband Brian is going to be her man of honour, and all three of our kids are going to be flower children. Basically, Hailey was going to be a flower girl, and Joseph and Phillip were going to be ring bearers. But when the boys heard that flower girls got to throw stuff (petals) they claimed that it was fundamentally unfair. So now, we have three flower children. I find any wedding stressful. It's all the prep, even if you're not the ones getting married. As a member of the bridal party, there are dress fittings, ordering the dress, hair appointments, makeup, and keeping the bride sane. In this case, it's two brides that we have to keep from stressing out. Since my family alone makes up five members of the bridal party, I have to organize all of us in this endeavour. But I do it with love. Jenn and Ilana are awesome, and they are amazing aunties to the triplets.

Being a part of a wedding party, and seeing how everything comes together has absolutely fascinated the kids. They are now wedding obsessed, to the point that I recently had a fight with my son Joseph. He declared that I couldn't tell him what to do, and in order to free himself from my mothering, he was going to get married. I said "Oh? How? To whom?"

"Mommy," he said. "I am going to marry Shae. She is perfect! We will get married, and the grownups will carry blue flowers, Phillip will carry green flower, and Hailey will carry pink and purple flowers, and then we will eat chicken and french fries and pizza. We will dance to the zombie song that has the video with the man in the red jacket who turns into a wolf beast. After that we will eat cupcakes AND cake. Then some builders will build us a house next to karate class and you won't have to drive me anymore. And because I am mad at you, Shae and me will never come over for Friday night dinner! NEVER!"

Somehow I managed to listen to that tirade with a straight face. He apparently asked Shae the other day if she liked the plan. She said she had to ask her mommy and daddy for permission.

That was a bit of a tangent considering what I actually wanted to write about today. I have been working on planning to branch away from a solely written blog and attempt video blogging. Now those who know me and technology will understand my trepidation on this subject. If there's a way for me to muck up the tech, I will do it. But I think I may finally have the hang of at least pointing my computer's camera at my face and pressing record. We'll see how it turns out. All I can say is thank god for Amanda Portelli. She is helping me through all of this and actually understands things like editing, wipes, and transitions. I am amazed that she's not sick of my questions yet.

All of this means updating my YouTube channel. (Something I forgot I had!) And then there is something else coming up which I will tell you al about soon.

Oh! I am also working on Book 5 of the Sitnalta Series! The False Princess now stands at 31,500 words and it is tying together all the threads that I have left loose from the other four books. Very excited for how this is turning out. More news to come!

And now:
